Operation SPY

Event: Visit between Our Heroine and her surrendered son, The Kiddo, and his aparents, Betty and Barney.

Location: Big Science Musuem named after Philadelphia's Deity.

Time: A Sunday in early December.

Mission: Surreptitious picture taking of The Kiddo, secret moral support for Our Heroine.

What made me grind my teeth: Conversation between Our Heroine and Evil Archnemesis (aka Betty) after the others were dismissed from the cafe table. Archnemeisis's body language says: I am not listening to you. I am doing all the talking. I'm telling you how this is going to be, you don't have to like it, I don't care. Stay in your box, birthmother. Our Heroine sheds tears.

What I wanted to do: Play Friendly Stranger in museum cafe. Compliment Our Heroine on her beautiful son, who is obviously very smart, who is the spitting image of Our Heroine. Observe, with glee, Archnemesis's discomfort as she considers telling Friendly Stranger of the complicated parentage of her son. (I didn't do it.)

Unexpected Revelation: Our Herione and I placed through the same agency within a few weeks of each other. Betty and Barney were finalists of mine, I remembered their video. When I saw them and heard their voices, I suddenly recalled the odd sideways glance they exchanged during the part of the video where they addressed their preferences on openness. That glance was the reason I didn't choose them. It spoke volumes.

Mission Accomplished: A picture exists of The Kiddo standing next to Naomi, sent from phone to phone is plain sight of The Kiddo's parents. I pray my secret friendly presence was a comfort to Our Heroine as she wandered in enemy territory.
