Have you watched the trailer for Juno? It actually looks good. It looks like they don't belittle the teen mother. It also looks like a dramadey. Still just the three minutes I watched that clip made me suck my breath in. I don't know if I want to relive a placement day (and I'm on the other side of the fence from you). Maybe she doesn't place in the end. Mallory really wants to see it.

i half saw the trailer last night while i was watching project runway. then i did a little more research online. everyone says the movie is great, but i worry. i'm going to see it, and i'm bringing a box of tissues and a bucket for the placement scene.

juno is supposed to be 13, and having her be really, really young makes it a more obvious, less controversial choice for her to place. i wonder how different the movie would be if the mother was 20?

LisaV

If she is that young, that's way young. Isn't it more likely that someone older will become a first mom? I had always heard the younger the girl, the less likely to place.

Kateri

lisa, that's true, in real life. but this is movieland, so who knows? i'm bracing myself for the worst.

I immediately thought of you when I saw something about this movie... where? Hmmm, maybe Time magazine. I don't feel like watching it and I cannot imagine how hard it'll be for you to see it. I guess I'm curious now.

Well, I'll join myspace then. just because of you, my friend... ;)

I just sent a friend request...looking forward to reading!

And, about Juno...I have heard good things, but am wary of the sources. Will look forward to your take on it.

In the end Juno does give her baby up. I definitely feel wary about seeing this because it always makes me so mad when that happens and so happy when they decide to keep the baby, but I've heard a lot of good things about the movie itself so I am going to try to watch it. I looked for the spoiler because I would rather KNOW going in and save myself the grief and worry the whole movie and basically prepare myself. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy it with the suspense. So hopefully those who like to similarly prepare can read this and, well, be prepared. :)

I did not read the above spoiler- but here is a nice review in Salon, and it doesn't spoil anything.
